Type SS 317L Flanges is chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel having phenomenal corrosion resistance. A high content of molybdenum in this grade improves its pitting resistance property. This grade has high tensile, as well as a creep strength feature. Type 317 is more robust than 304 stainless steel. You can hot work this alloy between 2100-2300F. This alloy is not suitable for heat treatment but can be cold worked, which increases its strength as well as hardness. SS 317L Flanges is also a chromium-nickel austenitic SS with low carbon content that is used in an application where it is not allowed to anneal after welding. Also, it can be used in the application requiring high corrosion resistance. High resistance to corrosion makes it one of the important grade. This grade finds its use in the pulp & paper industry, power exchangers, explosives, air pollution control, food, and beverages.
